Norman "Sailor Jerry" Collins was a tough old sea dog with a shrewd intellect. For 40 years, Sailor Jerry honed his craft on a canvas of carousing military men in the rough Hotel Street district of Honolulu. A self-taught electrician, poet and all-round tinkerer, he revolutionised modern tattooing and created an artistic legacy that is still felt today.

The Sailor Jerry brand actually started as a small indie company printing Jerry "flash" on t-shirts, belts, sneakers and work shirts. Then we made the rum based on the spirit sailors used to drink — and it started to outsell everything else. But we haven't forgotten our roots.
