In celebration of Women’s History Month in the U.S. this year, Sailor Jerry wants to celebrate and appreciate women who continue to make immeasurable contributions to the artform. Only 1 in 4 tattoo artists are women, and even fewer shops are women-owned and operated.
We’re kicking off the month by highlighting 13 badass women-owned tattoo shops that we’re fans of across the United States. If you are looking for some fresh ink, consider one of these amazing artists and check out their instagrams linked below!
1. Now and Forever Tattoo @nowforevertattoo
Opened in 2020 owner Kristel Oreto sought to follow her dreams and provide Philadelphia with a place to get tattooed and admire art. Her shop walls are filled with art, oddities, and local antiques. Now and Forever Tattoo is truly a space that welcomes all.
2. Eight Bells Tattoo @eightbellstattoo
Located in Malvern, PA, Eight Bells is a studio that specializes in custom ink. Women owned and run, owner Jess Baker and her shop are pushing out sick twists on American Traditional tattoos. Their name stems from an old sailors tradition, where mates would keep track of time by ringing a certain number of bells. Sounds like a tradition we can get behind!
3. Tiny Tats ATX @tinytatsatx
Tiny Tats tells their customers to come for the ink, but stay for the vibes. Owner Coley, sets out to not only provide sick ink, but a safe space for all. The shop houses all women artists spanning many different tattoo styles. Their gallery is amazing and the shop looks killer, check them out in the heart of Austin.
4. Bee Tattoo MPLS @beetattoo.mpl
This women-owned shop opened its doors 5 years ago. From realism to American Traditional, this shop specializes in countless styles and designs. A sister duo purchased the shop and fostered a home for good tattoos, good vibes, and an amazing neighborhood business.
5. The Salty Siren Tattoo Lounge @saltysirentattoo
Owner Lenny Floyd says that she has her dream job running the Salty Siren in Greenwood, IN. In 2018 the shop was named Best of Indy Winner Tattoo Shop and in 2017 was named Indianapolis’s #1 Shop. This colorful tattoo lounge has a variety of art styles and offers an authentic vibe.
6. The Painted Lady LA @paintedladylaofficial
The Painted Lady LA is an inclusive, All Women & Non Binary, Queer Black Women-owned Private Tattoo Parlor and Art Gallery. They pride themselves in providing clients with tattoos done their way, with client creativity and comfort in mind. Owner Angeleno Autumn Armstrong has incredible neo-traditional work, and credits her passion to Kat Von D, who inspired her as a woman in the industry.
7. The Wolf Den Tattoo @wolfdencustomtattoo
The Wolf Den Tattoo is an all femme and them tattoo parlor that provides eco friendly tattoo services. Owner and founder Ryane Rose said that she started the shop to house a creative space for all walks of life. The shop supports local Denver artists through gallery placements throughout their shop walls. Consider them for your next piece of ink!

Mashroom Studios is an all women-owned tattoo parlor and event space located in the heart of Denver. The team prides themselves in taking clients' art seriously and values the collaboration of custom tattoos. The studio truly produces inspiring work, we definitely want to be tatted by these badasses!
9. One Drop Ink Tattoo @onedropink
One Drop Ink is located in Nashville, TN. The shop offers all styles of tattooing on all skin types and tones. They have been pushing out sick ink since 2011. Inclusivity is important to the shop as they want to share the art of tattooing with everyone. The shop prides themselves on being the first black owned tattoo shop in middle Tennessee.
