Hold Fast: Quintron

By Daylen D on 7/12/2012

Like Norman "Sailor Jerry" Collins who built the tools of his tattoo craft by hand, Quintron uses his skills to build synthesizer modules and extraordinary music machines. What starts as a momentary flash of imaginative brilliance can take months to actualize. He solders wires, develops prototypes, then goes back and refines his work until science is transformed into the organic harmonies he first envisioned. He hand-built an oscillating drum synthesizer and rigged it to be activated by light. What resulted is The Drum Buddy - an optical theremin of sorts. Who does that!? Quintron does. Lucky for us, he shares his talent and passion for analog music with the world. Be sure to catch his one-man-band on tour which combines unique beats, obscure lyrics, a Rhodes/Hammond combo, and backup vocals by his wife, the performer Miss Pussycat. We're hoping he mainstreams his recent invention soon - a weathervane that responds to changing environmental conditions and conducts nature's orchestra to make your house sing.
